Cabinetry for the way you use the space
The cabinet layout should follow the way you cook, serve and store things outside. A narrow run beside a grill and a full outdoor kitchen call for different cabinet layouts. Custom sizes let us work with the equipment, available space and storage you actually need.
That might mean drawers near a serving area, storage beneath a sink, space for trash and recycling, or cabinets fitted around columns and other architectural conditions. We work with homeowners and trade professionals to develop the cabinet details for the project.
Materials suited to outdoor conditions
Moisture, humidity and sun exposure affect material choices outdoors. We use King StarBoard® ST for outdoor cabinetry where it suits the application. King Plastic manufactures the sheet material; A Ward Design manufactures the cabinetry.
King Plastic identifies StarBoard ST as high-density polyethylene (HDPE), stabilized for outdoor exposure. The manufacturer states that the sheet will not rot or delaminate when exposed to UV, humidity or water, and describes it as scratch-resistant. It does not require painting or refinishing. Those material properties do not mean a complete cabinet assembly is scratch-proof or needs no care.
We review the material, color, hardware and exposure conditions together. Final color choices should be made from physical samples, with availability confirmed for the project. Read King Plastic’s current StarBoard ST information.
Plan around the equipment
Grills, sinks and other equipment affect cabinet openings and storage. Share the equipment models and manufacturer instructions as they become available. Clearances, ventilation and any required heat protection must follow the applicable equipment manufacturer’s requirements.
Cabinetry, countertops, appliances and utility connections need to be coordinated. We will clarify the cabinetry scope and who is handling the related work before production.
